DelZone Spa Ozonator ZO-300

Ozone is a molecule that consists of three atoms of oxygen. If it comes into contact with microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, or protozoans, one of the atoms is released from the bond. This detached atom oxidizes the microbes. It is used by industries as a disinfectant, deodorizer, antimicrobial agent, and sanitizer. Among consumers, ozone is most commonly used for purifying air, sanitizing food and water, eliminating microbes, treating aquarium water, as well as killing bacteria in hot tubs and reactivating chlorine and bromine to their free state.

Ozone, however, cannot be stored. It is an unstable element that decays into an ordinary two-atom oxygen within half an hour of its generation. If you wish to use ozone for your hot tub, you will need to install an ozone generator or ozonator, like the DelZone Spa Ozonator ZO-300.

This DelZone model is a cylindrical device that is designed to be installed below the spa skirt. It generates ozone by passing air through high electrical voltages. This splits O2 molecules into O1, which then combine to form O3 or ozone.

The ozone is delivered to the hot tub though a supply tubing that comes with the ozonator. This is connected to at least one of the jets, preferably the lowest in the tub for maximum water contact. It can supply sufficient ozone for a tub with a water holding capacity of up to 1,000 gallons.

With a DelZone Spa Ozonator ZO-300, bromine and chlorine consumption can be reduced although these cannot be totally withdrawn. In addition to killing microorganisms, it also neutralizes human contaminants such as body oils and dead skin.
