Health researchers and practitioners swear to the health benefits of soaking in a hot tub. The hot water is said to reduce stress and induce relaxation and restful sleep. It also helps relieve arthritic pain, muscle stiffness, and other body aches. Cardio and respiratory benefits are also said to result from immersion in a hot tub.
There is one caveat though –the water has to be properly disinfected. The particulate filter, even at micrometer range, is not enough to keep the water clean. This has to be supplemented with sanitizers. Bromine, chlorine, and other mineral sanitizers are the primary disinfectants.
Bromine usually comes in tablets that are fed into the tub by an automatic feeder. This is because the tablets dissolve at slow rates requiring the regulation of their release into the water. You will need to continually purchase bromine tablets and load them into the feeder.
With the Genesis Bromine Generator Kit, however, you can still have your bromine sanitizer but you can kiss the tablets and automatic feeders goodbye. This device converts bromide ions from sodium bromide (NaBr) into free bromines.
Sodium bromide is a form of salt. When added to the tub’s water and processed by the generator, its bromide ions are transformed into free bromines. Free bromines are the chemical elements used to sanitize tubs and spas. Once it has done its job of cleaning up the tub, it reverts to sodium bromide waiting to be transformed again into free bromine. This cycle is perpetual and the only time you need to add sodium bromide is when you need to refill the tub after draining or to replace the water that has splashed out.
This cycle is activated by the electrode cell that is made of an extremely porous synthetic graphite. DC power of less than 30 watts pulsed through the electrode converts bromide ions into free bromine. This power is regulated by an electronic controller. The electrode cell is connected to a Tee fitting which, in turn, is connected to the tub’s plumbing.
