Prestige Walk-On Spa Cover
If you are not fond of having a box sitting on your backyard or patio even if it is a hot tub and have instead opted for an in-ground variety, you can use the Prestige Walk-On Spa Cover. Its name says it all. You can walk, sit, and play with your kids on it. It can easily handle the weight of two adults of medium size.
The cover consists of a 2-lb. density foam that tapers from 4″ to 2″ with an insulation level rated at R-19. It is wrapped in a perma plastic liner to keep it from absorbing excessive amounts of water. Laminated fiberglass sheets sandwich the foam and it is these that allow the spa cover to support weights of up to 300 lbs. without bending or cracking. An aluminum c-channel helps the fiberglass support loads on the cover.
The foam with its plastic liner and its supporting structure are wrapped in marine grade vinyl cover that is double stitched with polymatic UVR thread on all sides for added strength and durability. The folding hinge is double reinforced keeping it aligned.
Four tie downs are sewn into the spa cover to secure it over the tub. It is equipped with keyed lock fasteners that prevent accidental opening thus keeping your children safe when playing on it. Carry handles on each side of the cover make opening and removing it from the tub convenient. These have double sewn seams keeping them securely fastened to the cover and from accidentally ripping it.
The underside of the cover is a fine breathable mesh that allows air to pass to the foam core preventing it from getting soggy and stinky. Although exposed to chemicals normally added to the tub to disinfect the water, such as bromine and chlorine, the mesh is not affected by them. The zippers that provide access to the foam core are made of extruded PVC resin that is of marine grade, thus they are impervious to rust or corrosion.
